He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. — Revelation 22:11
The righteousness by which we are justified is imputed; the righteousness by which we are sanctified is imparted. The first is our title to heaven, the second is our fitness for heaven. — Messages to Young People, 35.2
For you to experience heaven, you need both the title and the fitness for heaven. The same is true of hell. It would be unfair, and a torture, for God to let those who are unfit for heaven spend eternity there.
Character is the real question
Character is our thoughts and feelings combined (Proverbs 23:7; Testimonies, vol. 5, 310.1).
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. — Proverbs 23:7
Many people focus on the outward, but God looks deeper (1 Samuel 16:7). He is concerned with the heart: our intentions and our motives. That is why we are told:
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. — Proverbs 4:23
More to come. I will expand on this soon.
